How to Quickly Change Status from the Header Bar in Vtiger CRM

The Quick Status Change feature, brings seamless inline editing directly into the record header—no more opening full edit forms just to update statuses.

This can be achieved via our Header Status bar Extension

What It Does

Once this feature is enabled, status values in the header bar of any record become clickable. A simple click updates the picklist value instantly, right from the header.
This quick-edit functionality works across:

• Standard and custom modules

• Standard and custom picklist fields, including those with long values and dependencies

How to Set It Up

1. Navigate to the Settings
Go to CRM Settings → Other Settings → Header Status Bar and choose your module and picklist field, then click on  , make sure also module is enabled via:

Select which picklist value will be clickable and click on 

2. Enable Quick Edit
Within the picklist field setup:

Toggle “Is active” to make the status values clickable.

3. Click to Update Records
With the feature activated, navigate to a record (e.g., an Opportunity), and click the header’s status value. The picklist will update instantly—no extra steps needed.

To perform more advanced actions alongside the click—like conditional logic or dynamic workflows—you can leverage the Dynamic Fields extension.
